Dorene Yates - Director of King'sKids

About Dorene

Dorene grew up in the town of Alden.  She loves Alden and has enjoyed growing up there. She attended Buffalo State College where she completed her BS in Elementary Education and MS in Special Education. In 1998, she married  Richard Yates, Jr.. They came to Alden Community Church in 2003 to serve and be a part of the college and career and music ministry.  

 
Q&A with Dorene

Where do you work/what do you do?

I'm a kindergarten teacher in Alden.

What do you like most about your job?

I love being a kindergarten teacher because there is great joy in getting to be part of providing the foundations that the rest of a child’s education will build on.   

What do you love most about Alden Community Church?
I love Alden Community Church because there are so many opportunities and ways to get involved to minister and serve the Lord.  I love that every Sunday the gospel is preached and we sing wonderful worship music each Sunday.

What do you love most about volunteering?

I love being Kidzone Coordinator at church because my desire is that children have every opportunity to believe in Jesus and grow in their faith. They are energetic, creative, full of great questions, love learning, and a joy to teach.

What is your favorite passage of Scripture?

Jeremiah 29:11-13 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and prayto me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Who is someone you admire?

My Mom- I admire her strength,generousity, and love she shows on a daily basis to her family and friends.

What's your favorite snack?

Homemade Chocolate Chip cookies

What's your idea of a perfect day?

Enjoying the outdoors with family and friends (swimming, going to the beach, hiking, horseback riding, bike riding). 

 

What is your family like?

God- loving, close-knit, friendly, giving, and they love to have fun together.

What inspires you?

The Bible-reading the bible inspires me to deepen my walk with the Lord and to tells others about God's great love.

My Parents: their love and support and hard work to raise, shelter, educate, push and nurture me inspire me. I am lucky to have had them as my parents.

My Friends:  I have had great friends around me throughout my life.  They have helped me through tough times and celebrated with me in good times. 

What was your first job?

My first job was being a counselor at a camp called Circle C Ranch.  It was an amazing place to work.  I grew in my faith and developed life long friendships.
